LI-AN-LO Studio has the mission to give new life to trees that are usually rejected by the industry and to demonstrate the potential of using Swedish non-standard wood in furniture production. Today the largest and most beautiful trees are too big for the standardized processes of sawmills and usually end up as wood chips, destined for the heating industry. The same fate befalls trees infested with bark beetles, something that in most cases does not significantly affect the quality of the wood. We want to change that by constantly questioning non-sustainable ways of use and produce. We believe it makes the most sense to use what we have, let a living material as wood be lively and highlight the beauty of it rather than having unrealistic expectations of homogeneity.
LI-AN-LO Studio is run by furniture and interior designer Lina Rex and based in Bodafors, Småland, Sweden – a place surrounded by beautiful nature and a great artisanal heritage. This is the place where the small collection of furniture comes alive, exclusively from Swedish raw materials. The material is always the starting point for the design, which contributes to the organic and soft shapes. All objects in some way invite to physical interaction, a strive to create more than an object but also a multisensorial experience. A little pinch of poetry in everyday life, where design and art are welded together.
